It is amazing how modern designers and architects are integrating seamlessly different styles and design ideas to create contemporary homes that are not just sleek and stylish but also warm and inviting. That seems to be precisely what the travel aficionados Colin and Carolina Cormac wanted for their new home in Southern California and the pair approached Craig Schultz of Laidlaw Schultz Architects to turn their vision into reality. While one of them wanted a sleek modern and minimalistic look the other wanted a warm look that is captured by wooden surfaces and vibrant colors.
The eventual design of the home is a beautiful amalgamation of both well-defined lines borrowed from modern design merged with sporadic and stylish use of wood to create a minimalistic and spacious house. Glass and concrete have been used extensively and the shades have been largely kept neutral with white being the predominant color of choice. Wood has been cleverly used to form the frame of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows to provide a sense of balance.
This also promises plenty of natural light and freshness brought in by each new dawn and with a grand patio and refreshing pool there are plenty options to kick back and relax after a long day’s work. The high ceiling with a striking design not only gives the interiors a spacious look but also offers the home a regal touch.
Seems like more and more homes these days are either opting for the rectangular look that uses both glass and stone in a distinctive fashion to create a visually appealing form or that cubic design which also sports a sleek and sophisticated look. It is the simplicity of the designs their well-defined lines which fits the contemporary minimalist trend and the ergonomics which have made them so incredibly popular.
The home has a boxed-shaped design and the top level has been intentionally designed in such a way that it is 3 meters cantilevered over the rest of the base and that gives the home its distinctive look. The interiors have been revamped elegantly using wood in a very soft and pleasant shade while the extra space created now offers both better ventilation and also a larger sun deck. Simple and resourceful.
The is all about elegance simple style minimalism and sleek design at its flowing best. One of the best modern homes that we have seen in recent times the home charms you with its uncluttered presence and the extravagant and wide-ranging use of glass. Glass and stone are the two main visible components of this contemporary structure and the third common ingredient that you find in most current homes wood is missing to a large extent here.
Designed by ’s StudioMK27 the home is pretty much a perfect template for anyone who wishes to build a contemporary house that is both sophisticated and yet an absolute dream to live in. The Ipês house looks like a giant concrete block floating over a dreamy glass base and this is achieved by the balanced use of concrete wood and glass on the exterior while the interiors remain spacious and light.
