Modern architects and designers are placing as much emphasis on creating beautiful modern homes that stay connected with the environment around them at all times as they are on sleek and stylish interiors. And in this effort to add visual space and make the exteriors a part of the house one has seen a growing trend in employing glass extensively and expansively.
This soft contemporary home in California strikes that essential poise between form and functionality. While modern in both design and outlook the home is not uber-futuristic and does not use excessively sleek design both on the inside and on the outside.
Designed by Juma Architects the home has a wonderful first floor that is defined by its extensive and extravagant use of glass in the form of floor-to ceiling glass windows. The entire floor can be used either as a single flowing space or one can create several rooms using in-built partitions. While the use of the glass allows for lovely views of the sea not too far away the infinity pool simply takes the experience to a whole new level.
Comfortable cabins set in nature’s lap are indeed a great way to spend a memorable holiday and definitely help when it comes to escaping the hustle and the rush of the monotonous city life. And while traditionally the mental image of a cabin set in a lush green outback is of a structure clad and crafted out of wood the Swinomish Indian Reserve cabin breaks away from that trend. This dramatically distinct cabin has been clad largely in glass and pretty much looks like one giant ‘glass house’ which enables you to stay connected with nature at all times.
This beautiful lower level uses nothing but glass walls and that pretty much brings the outdoors inside the home. The top level is surrounded by retractable wooden panels that ensure those inside can get all the privacy they need and still tap into the wonderful and fresh views of the outside world whenever they feel like.
