Designing custom-made furniture is not an easy art. In fact it takes both immaculate vision and unabated creativity to custom design for customers the interiors and décor that they wish for. The most challenging aspect of it is obviously understand what customers have in mind and to decode it and bring a room to reality in a way that pleases them best. And few have achieved this better than Melissa Collison over the past few years.
For the external structure both concrete and glass have been used which allow for both privacy and some wonderful views of the ocean that is not too far away. The spacious interiors feature beautiful wooden flooring ambient lighting and furniture and décor that is lavish and relaxing.
Comfortable cabins set in nature’s lap are indeed a great way to spend a memorable holiday and definitely help when it comes to escaping the hustle and the rush of the monotonous city life. And while traditionally the mental image of a cabin set in a lush green outback is of a structure clad and crafted out of wood the Swinomish Indian Reserve cabin breaks away from that trend. This dramatically distinct cabin has been clad largely in glass and pretty much looks like one giant ‘glass house’ which enables you to stay connected with nature at all times.
Her work not only has an inimitable touch of combining the unusual with the ordinary but it also seems to transcend trends and create design patterns which are both new and diverse. A resident of Sydney the designer loves the city to the core and while her work leads her all across the globe Melissa admits that she loves spending every moment she can get in Sydney.
But that seems to fit perfectly with the plan as the three floors of the home offer three unique living spaces with each having a very specific goal. The ground level is for the children and it opens up into a beautiful patio area and houses plenty of room for kids to play around. A wonderful walkway in stone combined with stairs graces the area above the pool and adds to the uniqueness of the house.
